Matusz done for the night

It won't go down as a win, but Brian Matusz has turned in a quality start by holding the Yankees to three runs over six innings.

His pitch count stands at 96, and the Orioles' bullpen was busy in the sixth.

Matt Albers continues to throw in the seventh, and Matusz isn't going to return.

Marcus Thames is 3-for-3 with an RBI against Matusz. Nobody can handle Robinson Cano.

Matusz allowed nine hits, struck out two and didn't walk a batter.

Too bad the Orioles' bats went silent again tonight. Only three hits off A.J. Burnett, including Cesar Izturis' leadoff single in the seventh.

What's gotten into that guy?

Down on the farm, Triple-A Norfolk's Jake Arrieta has allowed four runs (three earned) and five hits in six innings, with four walks and four strikeouts.

Scott Moore drove in his 10th run and committed his eighth error.

Single-A Frederick's Kenny Moreland gave up seven runs and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings. Winston-Salem's onslaught included two home runs.
